I recently returned from a week-long escape in Provence, France with my family. It was absolutely magical! We stayed in a Provençal country home in the perch village, Ansouis. The wine tastings, the Michelin meals, the sunshine and laughter made for a ‘moveable feast’.

Just booked tickets to see Baz Luhrmann’s interpretation of F Scott Fitzgerald’s American classic, The Great Gatsby. We’ve all been anxiously awaiting its (belated) arrival, and where better to watch than at the historic Ritzy Cinema in Brixton! The story was one of my favourites from English literature class and to top it off with a stellar cast, costumes designed by Prada, an old-meets-new soundtrack, is a treat indeed! I’m looking forward to darning my grandmother’s pearls, popping a bottle of bubbly, and settling in for what I hope is an unforgettable performance.

I am in love with all the seasons, all the in-betweens and each time they fade into one another. Of all, if pressed and pushed, prodded and pried, I would admit sheepishly and with a thin grin that Summer has my heart. The bursts of lightning on skies of black. The roll of thunder and cool of rain bouncing off sweaty skin. The crickets singing me to sleep echoed only by the train whistling in the empty parts of night. Summer, Summer holds my heart. I took a night photography this week and absolutely loved it! It left me more passionate about the art of photography and excited to build my lens collection. Night photography is quite different from daytime, and the light balance more intricate.

The above photo is St Paul’s Cathedral and Blackfriars Bridge from the Southbank around 20:30.

For someone with plenty of sleep issues, I’m happy to share the “world’s most relaxing song”. Listen at bedtime, after a good read (NOT the computer) and lull yourself into a restful state.
